Lambeth Country Show 2014 - Broke in London

Lambeth Country Show 2014

Celebrating  40 years!

The Lambeth Country show is one of London’s biggest free festivals and our best free summer festival. We were always Big fans of the fest. It has been going for 40 years celebrating the very best of the city and the countryside in the urban setting of Brockwell Park near Brixton in Lambeth, London SE24. Lambeth country fair 2013 attracted at least 150,000 people and was awarded Friendly Event of the Year at the National Outdoor Events Association Awards!

This year’s event, which takes place on 19 and 20 July, will be in party mood so get ready to toast its 40th birthday in glamorous retro style. The show is absolutely full to the brim with delicious food and drink, soul-lifting music and thrilling family-friendly activities.

What’s on

As ever, the Lambeth Country Show 2014 promises to be rich mix of music, culture, theatrical performances of all kinds, animal displays for all the family (including camel racing and horse jousting, Vauxhall City Farm’s cuddly animals and the Lambeth Country Show Mini-zoo), flower and vegetable growing competitions, sheep shearing, opportunities to get creative with craft stalls and chances to try out new ways to get fit and stay healthy.

What makes the event unique is the unique mix of activities for all ages and the sheer wide range of live stage performances that take place both on the main stage, the village green stage or throughout the other zones of the festival. For anyone new to London or if you’re a student living on a tight budget, Lambeth Country Show is one of the few events where you can see genuine headline acts perform for free!

Line-up

Last year saw rising Natty, Osibisa and Max Romeo perform. This year the US R&B diva with a soul-shaking voice Jocelyn Brown will headline and perform all of her biggest hits including ‘Somebody Else’s Guy’. Also performing will be soulful drum and bass specialists Shapeshifter, Brixton’s own Yaaba Funk and the original line-up of roots-rock-reggae legends Aswad! Ex-Specials ska-legend Jerry Dammers will also be performing so there is lots to choose from over the weekend. All performances will be working to the 40th birthday theme for the show this year which is the four decades of the 70s, 80s, 90s and noughties.
