Happy New Year, Broke In Londoners! The beginning of January can always be a bit of dry time for things to do, but not to worry, we’ve picked out five things that everyone in the family (both young and old) can enjoy. It may be cold outside but if you wrap up warm and brave the outside after the haze of Christmas, there are plenty of things to explore and see.

#1 | Great Court Games | British Library | Free

Head to the British Museum for a day of family fun, where you’ll be able to solve puzzles. play digital games and explore the museum. Deposit of passport, National ID or driving licence required.

When: Saturday 7th January, (11am-4pm).

#2 | Workshop: Big Wigs | Somerset House | Free

Inspired by Somerset House’s current exhibition on the hair-styling career of Sam McKnight, this workshop will be an opportunity for kids to  dress up or direct their own fashion magazine style photo shoots in the pop-up hair salon.

Relive an old classic and take a trip down the yellow brick road with the tin man, scarecrow, cowardly lion, Dorothy and Toto, screening at the Prince Charles Cinema this Saturday.

A unique look at the bedrooms of 26 London teenagers at the Geffrye Museum, exploring the social context as well the ways in which the space helps to form a young person’s identity.

When: Friday 6th January 2017 onwards. Exhibition runs until March 2017, (10am-5pm).

#5 | The No Trousers Tube Ride | China Town | Free

Banish those January blues with a silly trip on the tube wearing no trousers whilst trying to keep a straight face. There’ll also be a party after ride, so no need to feel embarrassed. The trip is organised by the Stiff Upper Lip Society.
